In their third appearance in three years, the boys’ bowling team placed third at the state bowling tournament Feb. 19 at Cadillac Lanes in Cedar Rapids.

Individually, junior Brandon Larsen placed fifth, and senior Alex Schnieders placed tenth. Placing second his sophomore year, Schnieders became the second male bowler of West Delaware to become a 2-time state place winner.

“Coming into this year, I had no idea what to expect, but I knew I had potential to place again,” Schnieders said. “The time and effort I, and especially my team, put into the sport is something to never be taken for granted.”

Bowling for the team were seniors Ian Tibbott, Cole Turnis, Alex Schnieders, and Grant Schmidt, along with juniors Brandon Larsen and Eli Heims.

Larsen was pleased and surprised by the accomplishments of his first year. “The atmosphere was so positive throughout the entire season,” Larsen said. “I will definitely be back next year.”

Tibbott enjoyed being back at state while making new memories. “I am very proud of our team. It felt incredible to make it to state again,” Tibbott said. “Hearing our names announced and seeing all the Hawk fans was the best feeling.”
