Inklings

About

The West Delaware Inklings started as a printed, school-related news newspaper in 1996 for the high school students produced every month. Starting in the 2016-2017 school year, the newspaper transferred online. With the technology and cellular phone population increasing, the online Inklings has helped us reach out the West Delaware community and beyond through social media connections.

All the articles are written by West Delaware’s own Journalism students.

In the Journalism I and Journalism II classes, students learn and demonstrate a variety of journalism skills, including photography, journalistic writing, InDesign, communication skills, interviewing, and time management.

Since 2010, the West Delaware Inklings newspaper has entered the Spring Iowa High School Press Association Contest and received multiple awards for the students’ works including 12 first places, 11 second places, 18 third places, and 17 honorable mentions. As well, the newspaper won the 2012 Spring Newspaper Contest Sweepstakes Winner for Graphics.
