Placing first, the West Delaware Fishing Team competed in the High School Bass Fishing Tournament Sat., Sept. 16, on the Mississippi River near Prairie Du Chien.

Junior Bryce Tucker and freshman Carter Peyton earned first place; eighth grader Bentley Fletcher and junior Sheldon Phillips, second; and senior Jeff Phillips and freshman Gavin Tucker, third.

After establishing the fishing team last spring, the team dominated the competition, winning their first four tournaments.

According to Bryce Tucker, the Janesville, Wisc., and Independence teams have posed the greatest competition.

Eighth grader Peyton Lewin is the team’s alternate.
