West Delaware High School held its second annual Rock-Paper-Scissors competition on March 5. Counselors organized this event to encourage students to laugh and learn how to care for their mental health.
Students competed in Rock-Paper-Scissors during passing time, where winners accumulated beads, which were distributed during the first block.
At 2:35 in the upper gym, all students with beads were invited to compete in the finale. The freshmen competed against the juniors, and the sophomores competed against the seniors. The event ended with Braden Eschen (11) taking on Croix Gudenkauf (9).
Eschen, with almost 250 beads, placed second in the final round.
“The best part was the adrenaline I got when we kept tying over and over,” Eschen said.
Gudenkauf placed first in the final round, ending up with almost 500 beads.
“The best part was the cheering and clapping,” Gudenkauf said. “I loved watching all the beads pile up.”
Counselor Shelby Piersch said, “Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun of today’s Rock-Paper-Scissors challenge. Seeing everyone’s smiles, cheers, and connection with each other is what we love about West Delaware.”
