There It Goes

Boys golf season winding down with one week of play left before postseason
After hitting his drive, Griffin Lott (11) watches his ball, waiting for it to land. Lott is one of four three-year varsity golfers.

The boys golf team has been busy and successful the last few weeks, playing in multiple duals and tournaments.

They opened their season playing Williamsburg in a JV/V dual which saw the varsity team fall by six shots and the JV pick up the win. After that, the top eight players traveled to Solon where they finished third as a team, shooting a 312 team total. Colson Mersch (10), Griffin Lott (11), and Macoy Peyton (11) all finished in the top 10.

The next week, the varsity team tied their low 9-hole score from last season in a dual at South Tama where they shot a 147 team total. This meet saw five of the six varsity players shoot under 40. Two JV players also finished the meet under 40. To end the week, the varsity team travelled to Pella for the two-day Dutch Masters tournament where they finished fourth overall.

On April 15, every golfer in the program played in a home dual against Benton. Following that, the varsity team went to Dyersville Golf and Country Club for the Blazer Invite where the Hawks finished second, 14 shots behind Beckman.

To finish out the regular season, the varsity team will host the annual Hawk Invite, play in a dual with Vinton-Shellsburg, and travel to Sunnyside Golf and Country Club for a tournament hosted by Columbus Catholic.

About the Contributor
Keevan Hauschild
Hello everyone! I’m Keevan Hauschild and I am a senior here at West Delaware. This is my third year of journalism. Outside of yearbook, I am currently involved in baseball, NHS, Speech, Play, Student Council, and a part of the West Delaware Students for Desired Change group. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, lifting, listening to music, attending sporting events, playing golf, and taking pictures. I’ve been running a photography page, khausproductions on Instagram and K-Haus Photography on Facebook. Both of these pages have grown an insane amount throughout the last two years. After this year, I’m heading to the University of Iowa where I am majoring in Journalism/Mass Communications, Sports Media, and Marketing with my end goal of working at ESPN one day.
