FFA Takes on Districts

Almost quadrupling their numbers from last year, 20 West Delaware FFA members competed at districts in Waukon on March 9.

Overall, three groups earned silver, one earned bronze, and one placed seventh overall. Senior Katherine Comely received second place individually.

“Our results did not go the way we wanted them to, but we learned a lot from watching other high-performing teams compete in similar contests,” FFA advisor Rachel Findling said. “This year was a learning opportunity to see what was on the next level of competition. We are excited to jump back in next year.”

West Delaware FFA District Results:

Chapter Program Silver: Madie Deutmeyer, Claire Peyton, Ella Pettlon

Chapter Website Silver: Kennedy Kolbet, Chloe Peyton

Parli Pro Bronze: Karli Postel, Jayden Hillers, Isabelle Demmer, Ava Pettlon, Cirra Cooksley

Farm Business Management 7th Overall: Blake Ries, Katherine Comely- 2nd Place Individual

Extemporaneous Speaking Silver: Ashleigh Hartman

Greenhand Quiz: Kael Loecke, Holly Gudenkauf, Kate Ries

District Officer Candidate: Madie Deutmeyer

Hi! My name is Andrea Kann, I am a junior at West Delaware. I have been involved in FFA, 4-H, Speech, and Prom Committee. I enjoy showing and raising swine for the Delaware County Fair. I have been showing for over 7 years through my 4-H group, the Buffalo Belles and Boys, located in Ryan. I have been the secretary, historian, photographer, treasurer, and currently I'm the Vice President of my group.
