The West Delaware High School marching band received a high division to excellent rating at the Iowa High School Music Association Marching Band State Contest at Dubuque Senior High School on Oct. 8.

Marching band instructor Jonathan Green describes this rating as everything the band of 72 members has been striving for.

“They all cared about their performance and put in hard work to perform the best to their abilities,” Green said.

The band was judged based off their drum line, color guard, music performance, and marching fundamentals.

“I’m not a band director who spends all my time focusing on the trophy,” Green said. “I spend more time focusing on the improvement from the season. I’m happy with our results. Our sound this year was full, strong, and rich.”
