Last Friday night, the Hawks beat Decorah on Brown Field, 42-21.

Senior and quarterback Kyle Cole led his team to victory with three touchdowns.

The Hawk defense stood strong against Decorah, even with one of West Delaware’s main defensive players, senior Wyatt Voelker, out on injury. The offense fared well too, with Cole gaining 85 rushing yards.

Senior Cody Monaghan had two sacks and three tackles for losses. After Monaghan sacked the Decorah quarterback, he made a motion to Cole. He did this hand motion that the players have done ever since middle school, where they circle their hand around, like the ump does in baseball. “He calls it a rag doll,” Cole said. “It was awesome!”

Tonight the Hawks face Waverly-Shell Rock with another chance for victory.
