The Girls’ bowling team walked into the meet on Feb. 18 hoping to qualify for state, and they did exactly that.

The bowling team left the meet with a score of 2,586. They will bowl at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo on Tuesday, Feb. 25. They will bowl on lane 16 at 10 a.m.

Seniors Hannah Axline and Lacey Cole are eager to have their hard work pay off. They practice every day, during the off-season, and even on late Sunday nights. Since they began bowling for West Delaware, the team has qualified for the State 2A tournament three times.

“At practice, we start off by stretching and throwing some practice balls and then jump right into games,” Cole said. “That’s where we find things to work on and do it.”

Senior Hannah Axline competes for the girls’ bowling team.

Axline says the team focuses on positive mindsets during practice while also having fun.

“We’ve been preparing for the qualifying meet since we came back from Christmas break,” Axline said. “That is our time to focus and prepare.”

Axline hopes to bring home another State title for her last time bowling as a West Delaware Hawk.

Axline is grateful to have the opportunity to bowl alongside her teammates. “I’ve met so many new people and have made so many great connections,” Axline said. “I’m excited to see what State brings!”
