West Delaware FFA students sold fruit for three weeks, trying to reach the chapter goal of $40,000.

The annual fruit orders consist of a variety of items to choose from, including cheese from Fareway, meat from the Edgewood Locker, syrup from Big Timber in Epworth, and citrus fruit from MinnTEX in Monticello. In three weeks, students sold to various people to try and achieve their goal.

“We had 50 students sell this year, which is 15 more students than we have ever had sell,” Tammy Schnieders said.

Jim Drummy (12) stopped at several places to sell fruit. “The fruit orders are very popular all around town,” Drummy said. “I get calls during these three weeks to stop and give people order forms.”

The profits obtained from fruit sales allow FFA members to compete in various events and activities throughout the year.

Students will begin delivering ordered items Dec. 13.
