New Faces at West Delaware

West Delaware High School introduced a few new faces this school year: Shelby Piersch, Matt Weis, and Jacob Becicka.

Piersch, the new guidance counselor, was previously the school counselor at Central Community School District in Elkader. She enjoys reality TV, being outside, shopping, and snowboarding.

Piersch’s biggest enjoyment is having an impact on other people’s lives. Her favorite part of first term was “getting to know students and staff and figuring things out at West Delaware.”

Becicka, the new special education teacher, spent his time tutoring before coming to West Delaware. He enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend and watching Netflix. His favorite part of first term was “going to football and volleyball games and getting to know all the students.”

Becicka wants students to know that they can always come to his classroom and talk if they need something.

Activities director and assistant principal, Weis came from Central City where he worked as the activities director for the last seven years. He enjoys going to Hawkeye games on the weekends and weightlifting. His favorite part of first term was “going to all the different events and getting to know the different students and watching them compete and perform.”

Weis wants the students to know his door is always open if they need someone to talk to.
