Why did you choose to make this art piece?
“I chose to make this art piece because I had wanted to do something with the Northern Lights when we were messing around with watercolor in class.”
What was the biggest challenge you encountered while creating your piece?
“The biggest challenge was hoping the salt technique turned out. I wasn’t too used to using salt in my paintings, so I had my fingers crossed until it dried.”
Is there anything else you would like to share about your piece or art in general?
“I love creating art and the fact that there is no limitations to what you can do creatively.”

What is your favorite part of your piece?
“I came up with the idea myself without looking at a picture. It made me feel really good to challenge myself with my own ideas.”
What was the biggest challenge you encountered while creating your piece?
“The most difficult part was creating the image by myself as I progressed and then shading it to make it look realistic.”
Emily La Rosa
What is the meaning behind your piece?
“I have my own meaning to my painting, but I prefer to leave my piece open to the viewer’s interpretation.”
What is your favorite part of your piece?
“I think it’s the Daft-Punk take on an astronaut in the upper left corner because it was the first thing I painted, and I enjoyed experimenting with colors.”
Why did you choose to make this art piece?
“I started off just wanting to paint and astronaut and an octopus, so I didn’t quite have a concrete reason ‘why’ until I actually started painting the piece.”
