Balancing going to school, playing sports, and posting TikTok can be a lot for many kids. This is a lifestyle that senior Brooke Krogmann has embraced.
“I started making TikTok videos when the app first came out and it was called Music.ly,” Krogmann said. “I recently started posting again in the last few months.”
Krogmann’s videos give viewers a glimpse into her life. “I make a lot of Day in the Life videos showcasing a typical day for a senior student athlete,” Krogmann said.
Krogmann produces more than Day in the Life videos. “I also make some funny videos that relate to sports or things I enjoy,” said Krogmann, who records her daily workouts, meals, and pregame dances.
One of her videos captured a typical day for her. She powered through morning basketball practice, ate breakfast, and was dressed and ready for school all before 7:45 am. Then she went to school, lifted weights, and ran errands at the post office and gas station. She ended the night with a yogurt bowl for dinner.
While still early in her social media career, she has already seen growth and attention on her TikTok page.
One of Krogman’s videos has over 20,000 views. “It made me want to continue posting and see what would happen,” Krogmann said.
Krogmann posted about her trip to Utah for a national volleyball event where she went through an airport, enjoyed a team meal, and explored Utah. “This was a big event for me,” Krogmann said. “I wanted to share this special moment in my life.”
Krogmann hopes to continue creating content in college by documenting the challenges and joys of balancing academics and athletics. “I want to show people how busy, fun, and time-consuming being a student athlete can be.”
Even though it cuts into her free time, creating content makes Krogmann happy.
“Making these TikToks has boosted my self-esteem from receiving feedback that people enjoy watching my videos,” Krogmann said.
