The student council sold donated clothes for one dollar on March 21 in the high school commons.
Student council executive president Abby Kass (12) planned the event with fellow members Grace Sleper (11) and Brooklyn Ante (11).
“I am super proud and grateful of the non-student council members that stepped up to help,” Kass said. “They made a huge difference.”
Student council members, community outreach committee members, and many others volunteered.
One volunteer, Maleigha Hildebrand helped sort the donated clothes.
“My favorite moment of the day was working with classmates and friends to organize the clothing,” Hildebrand said.
This sale allowed students and community members to purchase affordable clothing. Students had a blast thrifting these clothes.
“It was fun looking at all the clothing items,” senior Sarah Perez said. “I even bought a gumball dress for my little sister.”
Sleeper’s newly found joy in thrifting inspired the idea of a sale. “It was fun and affordable,” Sleper said.
Last year while doing spring cleaning, she recalled how her family donated to thrift stores. “I thought, why not give these (clothes) away directly to people who need them for a very affordable price?” Sleper said.
