Hector, a Goldendoodle, boosts students’ moods.
Parent Leticia Timmerman brings her dog Hector to the high school twice a month to reduce stress and demonstrate the benefits of therapy dogs.
“He’s a real sweet boy and loves going to work to get loved on and lift people’s spirits!” Timmerman said.
Bridget Heideman (11) sees him and feels joy.

“Seeing him at school, especially when I am having a hard time, cheers me up and gives me a sense of hope for finishing the school day,” Heideman said.
Teacher Melissa Hauschild’s room benefits from Hector. While waiting for him, Kaylynn Goranson (11) baked dog treats. She also takes him for walks and feeds him.
“Goranson gets excited when Hector lies on her while she is working,” Hauschild said. “It reduces her anxiety.”
Kassie Gonzalez (11) feels happy seeing Hector during the day.
Gonzalez said, “He motivates me to keep pushing through my shift at work and school, even when it’s hard.”
Counselor Shelby Piersch loves seeing how Hector impacts the students.
“Hector brings a smile to people’s faces,” Piersch said.
