Singing is not for everyone.
It takes a lot of self-confidence and dedication to sing in front of an audience.
Senior Emily Gudenkauf has been singing since she was a little girl.
“I started singing at Christmas Eve mass and other holiday masses at church,” Gudenkauf said. “Singing at church forced me to go in front of people and inspired me to start singing.”
Some of Gudenkauf’s accomplishments have been making it to the state for musical theater in speech and singing at multiple school events.
“One of my biggest challenges is stage fright,” Gudenkauf said. “ I sang at a dinner show with Makayla Seeley. I completely messed up the words. It was a song we had written ourselves so I was able to look at Makayla and repeat part of the chorus.”
She has also performed at a Minor League baseball game.
“When I had to sing in front of that many people, I was very nervous, ” Gudenkauf said. “The mascot calmed my nerves by blowing me a kiss and bowing as I walked onto the field.”
Over years of singing, Gudenkauf has learned to persevere through mess-ups and have a good mindset so there is room for improvement.
Gudenkauf hopes to continue her singing career throughout the future.
“My dream since I was little is singing and making a career out of it,” Gudenkauf said. I sing on my social media and hope to continue to grow my platform in the future.”
