Calming music greets you as you enter the Brain Health Room to grab a snack and relax on the massage chair. School has been stressful so you just need a minute to regroup.
The Brain Heath Room, a space for students to go if they need a brain break, has been a resource for students for two years now. Makenna Kelley is the Brain Health Room liaison.
“I love the position and getting to know students. It’s fun being able to return to the school I graduated from,” Kelly said.
Since taking over, Kelly has upgraded the room to make it more welcoming.
“I have added things such as a swing, a massage chair, a snack bar, and more privacy chairs,” Kelly said.
The number of student visits has been continuously increasing throughout the year. In September, 281 students visited, and in October, 383 students visited.
“On average, there are 20 to 30 students daily,” Kelly said. “More students are aware of the room and getting more comfortable to be able to utilize it effectively.”
