Playing the Fighting Prawn, junior Noelle Bardgett performed as a fierce chief of the Mollusk Islanders tribe.

“The most challenging part is probably memorizing lines and staying dedicated through the most stressful times,” Bardgett said. “Dealing with school and other activities, it’s hard keeping yourself together to have your lines memorized.”

Additionally, the difficulty of memorizing lines plays into staying in character.

“The way I stay in character is I don’t look at anyone—like anyone,” Bardgett said. “It is so easy to break character by the simplest things, and most times, I just try to make eye contact with the wall.”

Bardgett overcame these difficulties with many weeks of practice and help from her mom.

“It definitely pays off in the end,” Bardgett said. “At the beginning, you look at it like ‘how is this going to come together?’ but at the end you see it become a show. That’s what I enjoy.”

There are a total of 20 scenes in the two acts of “Peter and the Starcatcher.”

“My favorite scene is probably when Stache gets his hand cut off because of how everyone contributes to the scene,” Bardgett said. “I also think it’s just a chaotic scene, and I love how everyone works together to make it seem super real.”

This was Bardgett’s first year involved in play.

“My favorite part of play is definitely the fellowship—being excited together, nervous together and everything in between,” Bardgett said. “I love having the support from my fellow actors and just knowing we are one big family.”
