On Nov. 15, A group of thespians gather in the UNI auditorium to watch “Zombie Prom.” with other theater troupes. Front Row: Claire Manson (12), Jeanne Bargette (9), Makayla Seeley (10), Baylea Hutchinson (10); Back Row: Jennifer Lamb, Tina Ostrander, Eli Shipley (10), Kaidyn Robbins (9), Keizel Rivera (10), Sophia Hegland (11).
On Nov. 15 and 16, eight theater students traveled to the UNI Thespian Festival in Cedar Falls to explore, learn, and socialize with other drama troupes.
Students critiqued performances such as “Zombie Prom” and “Radium Girls,” watched individual acting/musical theater winners, and attended different workshops for various categories like musical theater, improvisation, and costume design.
Sophomore Makayla Seeley enjoyed being around other students who shared the same passion for theater as she does.
“I enjoyed being surrounded by those who were non-judgmental, as if [we] were a family,” Seeley said.
Seeing all the different performances, Kaidyn Robbins (9) learned how important it is to make room for improvement.
“No matter how good you are, there’s always room to grow and become better at your craft,” Robbins said.
